Dunhuang stone processing industry is booming

Dunhuang City relies on abundant granite resources to vigorously promote the development and processing of stone resources. At present, 24 stone processing enterprises with an annual production capacity of 12 million square meters have been built in the industrial park, and the stone industry is developing in the direction of scale. The granite distribution area in Dunhuang City is about 600 square kilometers, with a total reserve of 36 billion cubic meters. In order to achieve industrial agglomeration development, Dunhuang City has continuously strengthened infrastructure construction, perfected preferential policies, and plans to invest 5.3 billion yuan in industrial parks, focusing on the construction of three stone industrial parks such as Zhaojin Stone, Huachuan Stone and Jinhuanyu Stone. At the end of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", 75 stone enterprises were built and the annual processing stone was 30 million square meters. Up to now, the industrial park has completed an investment of 340 million yuan and built 24 stone processing enterprises with an annual production capacity of 12 million square meters.

How road salt works:

Road salt works by lowering the freezing point of water via a process termed freezing point depression. In a nutshell, the salt breaks into its component ions in a small amount of liquid water. The added particles make it more difficult for the water to freeze into ice, lowering the freezing point of the water. So, for road salt to work, there needs to be a tiny bit of liquid water. This is part of the reason why road salt is not effective in extremely cold weather when water would freeze too easily. Usually, an extra source of water is not necessary because there is enough liquid water present, either coating the hygroscopic salt pieces or produced by friction from traffic.

When cold weather is forecast, it is common to pre-treat roads with brine, which is spreading road salt granular or a solution of salt and water.This helps prevent ice from forming and reduces the amount of road salt needed to de-ice the surface later. Once ice starts to form, road salt is applied in gravel or pea-sized chunks. Road salt may be mixed with dry or damp sand to aid the process, too.
