At the opening ceremony, it was learned that at present, Shandong is formulating air pollutant discharge standards involving six key industries, and the emission standards will be stricter than the national standards. The six key industries are the thermal power industry, steel, non-ferrous metals, petrochemicals, cement, and chemical industry. They are important sources of atmospheric pollutants in the city.


According to Xie Feng, deputy director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Environmental Protection, a few days ago, the National Environmental Protection Agency issued new standards for ambient air quality, indicating that China’s environmental management has begun to change from the goal of environmental pollution control to the improvement of environmental quality. Shandong Province has a high population density and low per capita resources, while economic development maintains rapid growth, and air pollution emission reduction faces enormous challenges.
