Asian ABS resin transaction prices hit new highs

It is reported that Asian trading prices for ABS resins used in the manufacture of automotive parts and home appliance casings have continued to rise, reaching new highs in five and a half months. The reason is that the price of raw materials such as benzene keeps rising.

Currently, the spot trading price of ABS resin is around 2,010 US dollars per ton. Since late July 2012, it has exceeded the 2,000 US dollar mark again, which is 100% higher than the recent low price set in early December 2012. Dollar (5%).

The reason is that the benzene, one of the raw materials, is affected by the reduction of North American supply. The supply in the world is in short supply, and the price in Asia has risen to the highest level in history. In addition, other raw materials such as acrylonitrile, which had been weakening before the beginning of December last year, showed signs of bottoming out.

On the other hand, the demand is in a state of malaise. UMGABS, Japan's largest chemical manufacturer, said that the recovery of the automotive-oriented ABS resin business was worse than expected. In China, the demand for the Spring Festival is in short supply and trading is not active.
