Mobile browsers compete for "soft" power, saving battery power

For mobile workers who are on the go, notebooks must provide longer battery life in addition to their ability to perform tasks. Recently, 7Tutorials conducted endurance tests on four browser applications of IE 11, Firefox 26, Chrome 32 and Opera 18. Finally, IE 11 became the final winner with 8 hours and 52 minutes on the Metro interface.


All four browser applications were tested on three Surface devices, two of which were Toshiba Encore 8 and HP Pavilion dv7, and one for Surface Pro 2, both running Windows 8.1. In the final test results, the Modern version of IE relied on 8 hours and 52 minutes, and the desktop version became the winner of 7 hours and 45 minutes. The gap between the other three apps and IE is at least 1 hour, with Opera being the worst 6 hours and 11 minutes.

The desktop version of IE on Surface Pro 2 is 4 hours and 45 minutes, making it the longest browser application, but the duration of the Modern version is only 3 hours and 46 minutes.
