It appears as white powder or granules, with good water solubility, and have the functions of thickening, stabilizing, emulsifying and suspending in aqueous solution. In coating industry, CMC can be used as thickener and film former, it can make the products stable to store, disperse color uniformly, have good rheology and easily to be mechanically processed, as well as contributing to enhance the flexibility and lustre of coating.

CMC is apt to water-absorption, it should be stored in clean, dry and ventilate place, should not be put together with toxic, harmful and peculiar smell during transportation and storage.
