Application of Delta ASD-B servo system on engraving machine

In recent years, with the continuous development of the national economy, the demand for high-speed engraving machines in the hardware and advertising products industries is increasing day by day, and the demand for market-oriented servos in the economically developed East China region has reached several thousand. CNC high-speed engraving machine equipment is the applicable field of servo drive technology products. The CNC engraving machine needs to use three servo motors to control the X, Y and Z axes for high-speed feed. The power range of the selected servo motor is generally between 200W and 1KW depending on the workbench and the volume and weight of the workpiece. . See Figure 1 for samples processed by CNC engraving machine.

2 Customer Background The project selected Delta ASD-B servo drive technology is the leading enterprise in the domestic engraving machine industry. The customer is an internationally renowned company, and the high-speed engraving machine has strict requirements on the performance of the servo. Customers have always used the servo system of developed countries before, but because the price of imported brands is very high, the price/performance ratio is not very satisfactory, which increases the burden on production costs. Therefore, it has been looking for domestic brands that meet the standards. When the customer first tried Delta's ASD-B servo products, it found that Delta's ASD-B servo has reached the international first-class level in terms of technical content and product quality, but the price is very affordable and the cost performance is very high. Using Delta's ASD-B servo engraving machine, the precision of processing such as surface finish of the processed products even exceeds that of similar imported brands. 3 system design 3.1 engraving machine system architecture (1) numerical control system: using the CNC system developed by the customer.
(2) Spindle system: It adopts an integrated electric spindle, which is driven by Delta VFD-M series inverter.
(3) Feed drive system: ball screw + elastic coupling + linear guide + Delta ASD-B series servo drive system.


3.2 Mechanical characteristics and servo performance analysis The rigidity of the non-moving part of the engraving machine is required to be as good as possible, and the rigidity of the moving part is to be flexible, and it should be designed to be as light as possible while maintaining a certain rigidity. Mechanical design usually uses extra-wide columns and beams. Because of its excellent symmetry and excellent rigidity, the gantry structure is the preferred structure for high-speed cutting equipment. The difference between the moving part and the numerical control milling is that the distance between the guide rail and the guide rail is widened to overcome the problem of bad torque.
The requirements for servo performance are mainly based on the strict requirements of the rotor inertia of the servo motor to ensure that the servo system has a high response frequency. Under the condition that the inertia is satisfied, the servo system is required to have good low speed characteristics and high speed response.


3.3 Introduction to ASD-B Series Servo System Application (1) Features of ASD-B servo system ASD-B is an AC servo control system for PM-type AC servo motor (Fig. 3). The ASD-B control loop uses a high-speed digital signal processor (DSP) to perform various motion control with high speed accuracy. A variety of motion control modes such as position, speed, torque and mixing are available. ASD-B provides PI/PDFF control architecture with full-scale motion control system functions such as automatic gain adjustment and motor auto-detection.

(2) ASD-B based engraving servo control design

4 Ending the platform ASD-B series servo system is applied in the leading enterprises of engraving machine. It is of great significance for the domestic electromechanical automation system technology to form a breakthrough in this industry. The project has played a very positive role in promoting the high-end application of the domestic brand servo system in the field of CNC engraving machine.
