The investigators found that in actual operation, most of the merchants had few or no standards for the content specified in them, lacking information such as the manufacturer's name, quality level, paint quality, and even the basic materials.

Investigators also found that in the mahogany furniture market in Hangzhou, non-mahogany was sold as mahogany, and non-mahogany was sold as mahogany. The use of sapwood to produce mahogany furniture seriously harmed the interests of consumers.

In response to such irregularities, the Zhejiang Provincial Consumer Protection Commission urged market sponsors to strictly control the entry of enterprises into the market. At the same time, Zhejiang Provincial Consumer Protection Committee reminds consumers that when purchasing mahogany furniture, it is necessary to ask the seller for timber import documents and other relevant certification materials to verify the identity of the timber, and can entrust a third-party authoritative testing agency to conduct identification or request the dealer to present Test report of the third-party authoritative testing agency.
