Scan Eagle Drone (ScanEagle)
Boeing said on April 5 that the company successfully completed a flight test with a scanning hawk drone powered by a hydrogen-powered fuel cell, which would increase the drone's ability to carry a payload because the fuel cell's weight is less than traditional Gasoline and heavy oil engines.
Insitu, Naval Research Laboratories, and United Technologies Corporation collaborate to install the 1500W (2-horsepower) fuel cell for Scanning UAVs and integrate the hydrogen fuel cell technology of the Naval Research Laboratory. The new propulsion model was finally integrated into the drone.
The hydrogen-powered fuel cell will be deployed as a modular upgrade to the 2nd expedition to scan the Hawk drone. (Chen Hao)
