Recently, China's self-developed new type of rainbow solar drone for the first time completed 20,000 meters near the space flight test, a complete success. The "ultra-thin flexible crystalline silicon heterojunction (SHJ) solar cell" prepared by the New Energy Technology Center of the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was successfully applied to the energy system of the aircraft for the first time. The solar cell power during the entire test flight was established. The stable output and reliable structure provide strong support for the successful completion of the test flight.
Solar unmanned aerial vehicles use solar energy as a power source. Solar cells are one of the key technologies of solar unmanned aerial vehicles. They not only require high conversion efficiency, but also have characteristics such as flexibility, light weight, and strong environmental adaptability. Our country mainly depends on import. The team of Liu Zhengxin of the New Energy Technology Center further developed the ultra-thin flexible battery structure on the basis of conventional civilian high-efficiency SHJ battery technology (thickness 170 μm), using its double-sided symmetrical structure and low-temperature process, with a thickness of 100 μm, and batch average conversion. With an efficiency of 23% (AM1.5), the conversion efficiency of large-area modules is close to 20%, and the areal density is lower than 600g/m2. The performance of batteries and modules is at the leading level both at home and abroad.
The successful application of ultra-thin flexible SHJ components on solar drones has solved the situation that China's flexible, high-efficiency solar cells rely on imports, laying the foundation for the development of China's near-space technology.
