The polybutadiene resin is a liquid having a low molecular weight, and the macromolecular main chain mainly contains a 1,2-structure, which is also called a 1,2-polybutadiene resin. The resin has a large number of vinyl side chains on the macromolecular chain, so that it can be further crosslinked into a bulk polymer having a three-dimensional network structure in the presence of a radical initiator.
The 1,2-polybutadiene resin can be synthesized from butadiene by an anionic polymerization process under the initiation of an alkyllithium, an alkali metal (usually metallic sodium) or a soluble alkali metal complex (such as a sodium-naphthalene system) initiator. The macromolecular chain of 1,2-polybutadiene resin is completely composed of hydrocarbon, so that the resin has excellent electrical properties, good bending strength and excellent water resistance after curing.
