Shanxi, Hebei, Shaanxi, and Henan provinces and other coking provinces frequently investigate, report and punish coking enterprises for their illegal environmental pollution. With extensive development over a long period of time, the environmental pressure in the coking industry is increasing, and regional pollution is serious.

According to the data from the China Coking Industry Association, as of the end of 2014, more than 2,000 coke ovens in the national coking industry could truly meet the second-period standard of the “coking chemical industry pollutant discharge standards” (dioxide*50 mg/m3, dust 30). In order to ensure the orderly development of the industry, provinces have issued documents to require green development as the main line and use technological transformation as a means to promote energy conservation and emission reduction of enterprises and accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the coking industry. The coking industry has entered the era of mandatory environmental protection. Under the direct supervision of local governments, some coking enterprises began to update their environmental protection facilities.

Large companies in the coking industry invest a lot in the early stages, and they can basically meet the requirements of the new standard by renovating environmental protection facilities. For small coking enterprises with inadequate environmental protection facilities, it is difficult to overcome this because of lack of funds and technology. Environmental governance requires greater capital investment. Small and medium-sized enterprises have a weak foundation for survival, and their production capacity is backward. The pressure on feelings is even greater.

In the first two months of 2015, the coking industry's losses amounted to 2 billion yuan. This kind of market environment has made big companies that are not bad enough to be a bit saddened by this environmental storm. The person in charge of the coking company stated that the environmental protection department has forcibly required companies to implement new standards, and penalties should be punished and blacklisted at any time. This makes the coking industry, which is currently more difficult to manage, even worse and harder to survive. A large amount of environmental protection costs and operating costs are not subsidized and can only be borne by the company itself. When the power companies implement de-nitrification, the state subsidizes 2 cents per kilowatt-hour, and the coking industry removes a lot of input and operating costs for denitrification, but there is no subsidy policy.

In the face of high standards of environmental protection, even if coking enterprises are adequately priced, they must be plagued by inadequate environmental protection technologies. Coking companies all over the country have expressed that it is difficult to achieve the new standards in the "Coke Discharge Standards for Coking & Chemical Industry Pollutants" relying on current environmental protection technologies. standard.

Li Baoping, chairman of the Hancheng Coking Chamber of Commerce, believes that in terms of nitrogen oxides, the EU standard is 500 to 650 mg/m3, the US standard is 650 mg/m3, and our country's original standard is 800 mg/m3. It is now 500 mg/m3. However, as far as the current situation of the coking industry is concerned, even if 600 mg/m3 of standards are implemented, a large number of technological breakthroughs and transformations must be carried out, and if 500 mg/m3 of standards are to be implemented, technical upgrading must be carried out at 400 mg/m3. In order to ensure that it does not break through 500 mg/m3, with current equipment technology, it is difficult to achieve compliance.

Some professionals believe that the coking industry is currently faced with: First, the company itself does not have the technical capacity for further self-improvement and transformation; Second, the superior environmental protection department only put forward mandatory requirements, but failed to give these companies corresponding technical support With service. At present, there are few coking companies in China that meet the standard emission standards, and there are no correspondingly mature technological achievements, which has caused companies to be at a loss.

On the one hand, the depressed market conditions and the more stringent environmental protection policy requirements on the other, how the coking industry can survive and develop has become a serious problem that every coking enterprise needs to face.
